TAA and Entryway Empower the Rental Housing Workforce

At the Texas Apartment Association (TAA), we believe that strong communities need more than good housing. People build them on their strength. As the leading nonprofit trade association serving the Texas rental housing industry, our mission extends beyond advocacy and education. We are committed to creating opportunities that support self-sufficiency, promote equity, and build a stronger workforce across Texas.

We are proud to highlight Entryway nonprofit organization. Entryway helps people facing homelessness and housing challenges build careers in rental housing. Entryway focuses on empowerment, education, and long-term stability. It helps close workforce gaps and creates positive change for people and the property management industry.

Empowering Lives Through Employment and Housing

Entryway is not a charity in the traditional sense—they’re a catalyst for change. Entryway helps people by giving them job training. They also help find full-time jobs and provide stable housing.

Their participants don’t just find jobs; they build careers and futures. This life-changing impact supports both personal transformation and the long-term health of the Texas rental housing industry.

At TAA, we believe that a complete solution is important for our state’s future. This solution combines training, jobs, and housing. As Texas keeps growing, the need for a strong workforce in property management and support services also increases. Entryway is meeting that need with precision, compassion, and vision.

A Mission Rooted in Dignity, Accountability, and Opportunity

What makes Entryway’s model so effective is their commitment to the core values of Dignity, Accountability, and Opportunity. These principles aren’t just words—they shape every interaction with program participants, partners, and volunteers.

From the moment someone joins Entryway’s program, the program treats them with respect. They receive tools to take charge of their journey. Whether it’s resume development, interview coaching, or workplace readiness training, participants are empowered every step of the way.

This person-centered approach creates a motivated and ready workforce. This benefits employers in the rental housing sector.

Building a Workforce Pipeline for the Rental Housing Industry

The Texas rental housing industry including cities like Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, along with rural areas is facing a known labor shortage. Entryway directly addresses this by helping formerly unhoused individuals transition into rewarding roles in property management and related fields.

Through strong partnerships with rental housing providers, Entryway creates a steady pipeline of trained professionals prepared to step into essential roles. From leasing consultants to maintenance technicians, these careers offer financial stability and opportunities for upward mobility. Entryway is also helping to reduce homelessness while building a more resilient housing workforce.

The property management companies benefit too. They gain reliable, trained employees and they also join a larger mission. This mission promotes housing equity, workforce diversity, and economic mobility in Texas.

A Collaborative Effort with Statewide Impact

The success of this initiative wouldn’t be possible without collaboration. Entryway brings together nonprofits, employers, volunteers, and donors to create a shared ecosystem of support. This collective effort ensures that every participant receives the training, mentorship, and job placement services they need to thrive.

In 2025, we are proud to announce that Entryway has been named TAA’s official charitable partner. Under the leadership of TAA President Renee Zahn of Greystar our statewide community is coming together. We have support from the Texas Suppliers Council, led by Jackie Cagle of Rasa Floors. This is an important cause for us all.

Early Momentum, Ambitious Goals

Thanks to the incredible generosity of over 100 donors, we’ve already raised more than $12,800 to support Entryway’s programs. But we’re aiming higher. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of 2025. Every dollar will directly support housing, training, and job placement for people overcoming homelessness and housing affordability in Texas.

Whether you’re a property owner, supplier, or industry advocate, your support is vital. Together, we can help individuals achieve independence while strengthening the workforce that powers our state’s rental housing market.

Why It Matters to the Entire State of Texas

Although TAA is headquartered in Austin, our reach spans every corner of the Lone Star State. Entryway addresses challenges such as homelessness, unemployment, and workforce shortages. These issues are not confined to one city or one region. They are statewide issues requiring statewide solutions.

We are investing in a program that helps people. This program also supports property management careers. By doing this, we are making a bigger impact than just helping individuals. We are making the Texas rental housing industry more inclusive, sustainable, and ready for the future.

How You Can Help

We invite you to be part of this movement. Whether through a one-time donation or ongoing sponsorship, your support helps open doors for Texans in need. Entryway’s success comes from community involvement. The TAA network is in a great position to make a lasting impact.
