Do we need to complete every activity in the toolkit?
No. The toolkit is designed to be flexible. Choose the activities that best fit your team’s
capacity and incorporate them into existing daily, weekly, or monthly routines. Even small efforts, such as posting a flyer, sending a resident email, or sharing an employee story, can help increase awareness of apartment careers. The goal is progress, not perfection.
Who should manage the program at our property?
We recommend identifying a Program Champion. The Program Champion helps keep the initiative visible by sharing materials, promoting opportunities, tracking activity, and celebrating successes. The Program Champion does not need to manage hiring decisions or recruiting processes.
Do we need a resident referral program?
No. Properties can successfully implement Live Here, Work Here without a resident referral program. The primary goal is to increase awareness of apartment careers among residents and connect interested individuals to opportunities in the industry. Referral programs can be a helpful tool, but they are not required for participation.
What if we do not have open positions right now?
You can still participate. Live Here, Work Here is intended to build long-term awareness of apartment careers and strengthen future talent pipelines. Career awareness efforts can help generate interest and create connections with potential future candidates.
What if our onsite team is already stretched thin?
Live Here, Work Here is designed to complement—not add to—existing responsibilities.
Many activities can be incorporated into processes already taking place, such as move-
in packets, resident newsletters, social media calendars, maintenance visits, and
community communications. Start with one or two activities and expand only as capacity allows.
