Texas Senate expected to approve water billing legislation April 20


Legislation backed by the Texas Apartment Association continues to advance.

Texas Apartment Association-backed legislation continues to advance through the legislative process. Here’s an update on what we expect as this week wraps up:

  • SB 873 by Sen. Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) was approved on second reading 21-10 on April 19. The legislation, part of TAA’s affirmative legislative package, is expected to win final approval by the Senate on April 20.
  • HB 1821 by Rep. Travis Clardy (R-Nacogdoches) was approved by the House Business & Industry Committee on April 19 on a 4-3 vote. This is the House version of TAA-backed legislation addressing residential rental property late fees.
  • SB 921 by Sen. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock) will be heard by the Senate Business & Commerce Committee on April 20.  This is the Senate version of the late fees legislation backed by TAA.
