Industry leaders from across the state met February 13 in Austin for the Texas Apartment Association’s Day at the Capitol. More than 370 members participated, including more than 200 first-time attendees. Members visited 156 offices of elected officials during the event.

TAA also presented its first Affordable Housing Awards to four properties: Sierra Vista Apartments in Austin, developed and managed by Foundation Communities; Gates of Capernum in San Antonio, Vesta Corporation; Mariposa Apartment Homes at Pecan Park in LaPorte and Mariposa Apartment Homes at River Bend in Georgetown (both, Bonner Carrington).

The Day at the Capitol event included the Affordable Housing Awards presentation, an issues briefing, and a presentation from Gov. Greg Abbott’s chief of staff, Luis Saenz. Attendees from 22 of the association’s 24 local affiliates participated.
