The Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation has stepped up its focus on maintenance professionals in 2021, and that spotlight shone brightly at the TAA One Conference & Expo last month in San Antonio.

During the ONE Conference, TAAEF introduced its newest Room to Grow Ambassador, Robert Hills with Camden Property Trust, sharing his story via video during the General Opening Session. See Robert’s story.

Robert was the winner of the Be the Next Room to Grow Ambassador Video Challenge in 2021, which focused on maintenance professionals. Truly we had no idea how appropriate this focus would be. Our often-unsung heroes have gone through so much this past year with COVID-19, and then the winter storms.

Robert is the perfect example of all that our maintenance professionals have been through and what they’ve overcome. Robert has a huge heart and a killer smile and we couldn’t be happier for him.

TAAEF also launched a new maintenance council this year to address how we can bring more people into our maintenance teams and how we elevate the value put on these teams and the work that they do. In the coming months be on the lookout for new resources, tools and stories of all the amazing things that our maintenance teams do for our companies, properties, residents, and all of us.
