State seeks input on the state’s fair housing needs, issues
Four state agencies are conducting sessions this month and in July to gather input on fair housing needs and issues and consider recommendations for future use of federal program funds.
The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), General Land Office (GLO), Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) are requesting public input for the development of the state’s draft Analysis of Impediments (AI) to Fair Housing Choice.
Public consultation meetings will be held in June and July 2018 throughout the state to gather input on the needs of Texans and goals for use of future federal program funds.
Feedback is welcome regarding fair housing issues, particularly issues affecting protected classes under the Fair Housing Act, and the ability of persons in those protected classes to exercise housing choice. Protected classes under the federal Fair Housing Act are race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, and familial status.
