This April, the National Apartment Association is urging its members to “Celebrate Home” in recognition of National Apartment Housing Month.
Apartments and their residents contribute $1.3 trillion to the economy each year. That’s 12.3 million jobs in construction, operations, leasing, management and skilled trades along with all the local businesses supported by apartments and their residents.
To highlight the continued growth and success of the apartment industry, NAA is encouraging members and affiliates to sponsor activities during April to showcase opportunities in the rental housing industry and highlight the ways the industry positively impacts local communities.
Free fair housing training during April
April 2018 also marks the 50th Anniversary of the federal Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in the sale or rental of housing based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, and handicap.
The NAA Education Institute (NAAEI) is offering its “Fair Housing and Beyond” four-hour online training course to members free during April. Visit www.GoWithVisto.org and register, using the code fhbfree.
The course focuses on real-life situations, practical strategies, critical thinking and decision-making, and illustrates the costly consequences of responding incorrectly in the fair housing context. It was designed and developed in partnership with IREM and NAAEI member fair housing experts.
