Your essential source for owning and operating rental property in Texas, the Texas Apartment Association REDBOOK and the REDBOOK legal seminars, have been updated and will be available from your local association starting next month.

Both the printed and online versions of the Texas Apartment Association REDBOOK have been updated to reflect new laws and regulations, changes in the TAA lease and other management forms and updated legal articles on a host of topics.

In particular, the new edition contains valuable advice on complying with the new law regarding late fees, as well as several other laws from the 2019 legislative session.

Organized to follow the leasing cycle from start to finish, the book includes sections covering Application, Lease, Resident Life & Management Issues, Ending the Lease, Eviction & Other Remedies, Business Practices, Physical Plant, Statutes & Rules, and finally, TAA Leases & Addenda.

REDBOOK Online highlights

For even more content, use the REDBOOK Online. TAA Click & Lease program users have free access to the REDBOOK Online, or members may purchase a REDBOOK Online subscription; contact communications@taa.org for more information.

REDBOOK Online content is updated throughout the year to include new regulations, legal developments or other changes that may be updated between hardcover editions. In addition, the homepage for the online REDBOOK even directs readers to TAA-sponsored seminars and webinars to help you better understand your responsibilities as an owner or manager.

Other resources include additional forms and videos geared toward educating landlords and tenants about information covered in the REDBOOK. There is even a search bar for readers to look up specific legal resources. When you find a resource particularly helpful, REDBOOK Online organizes those resources into a “Favorites” tab for each section of the book.

Both print and online formats of the REBOOK utilize color scheme, graphics, and explanations of key concepts in layman’s terms to ensure readers are able to operate within the bounds of the law effectively.
