The Austin Apartment Association’s 30th Annual Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive brought in a record $63,000, enough to purchase 1,380 Thanksgiving food packages for Central Texans in need.
Volunteer members of the Austin Apartment Association celebrated 30 years of the Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive by delivering frozen turkeys and a basket full of groceries to 1,380 area families the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Austin Apartment Association (AAA) members wrapped up their 30th annual Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive by raising a record-breaking $63,000 to purchase 1,380 “Thanksgiving Food Packs.” The hunger-relief effort received donations from AAA members and the Austin community this year in order to supply 1,380 Austin families, elderly and children with all the foodstuffs needed for a Thanksgiving meal, plus pantry staples.
2016 marked the 30th year of the Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive. The food drive is a two-month-long campaign conducted by AAA members each fall to raise funds in order to purchase food packs. For the past 30 years, the Austin Apartment Association’s Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive has raised more than $753,000 and delivered more than 71,680 food packs to Central Texans.
