Spring is here, and with it comes National Fair Housing Month celebrated throughout April. The Texas Apartment Association is committed to helping members thoroughly understand the law and their obligations under it. Consider registering for one or more of these free webinars this month.

Upcoming free Fair Housing webinars

The Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs are partnering to celebrate Fair Housing Month in April with a series of fair housing presentations. These presentations cover Federal and Texas Fair Housing Acts with discussion on common fair housing issues and discriminatory practices. Note, all sessions are held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. CDT.

Thursday, April 1 – Fair Housing Overview
Topics will include: Federal and Texas Fair Housing Acts – Reasonable Accommodations – Complaints and Mediation – Identifying Discriminatory Housing Practices

Friday, April 9 – From Accessible Parking to Housing Vouchers: An Overview of Fair Housing Topics
The Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities is hosting panelists from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) and the Texas Workforce Commission – Civil Rights Division (TWC-CRD) in a discussion on the intersection of fair housing laws and people with disabilities. This wide-ranging panel includes topics such as accessible parking, resources for modification, service animals, and resources for minor home modifications.
