2019 Legislative Session Bills

Bills we’re following this session.

The Texas Apartment Association government affairs team expects to monitor 450-500 bills this session that may have an impact on the rental housing industry. The list below includes bills we are currently monitoring, in priority order.  Note that there may be some bills that the TAA Legislative Committee has not taken a position on yet even though they may be high or medium priority.

This list is color-coded to reflect each bill’s importance to the industry. Each listing also shows the bill number (S.B. for Senate bills; H.B. for House bills), the bill’s title, and the subject matter—affordable housing, landlord/tenant, development, taxes, etc. Click on the heading to read additional details about the bill, its status, and TAA’s position.

To view the full bill text and check its current status, visit https://capitol.texas.gov/, enter the bill number in the “Search Legislation” box and select the “Bill Number” option.

This list is for the use of TAA members only and not intended for general distribution.

If you have questions about any legislation on this list or TAA’s position, email governmentaffairs@taa.org.
