Free First-Time Renter Education Program

• Web-based, online course designed to educate first-time renters about their rights and responsibilities as renters in Texas.
• Free to prospective future residents.
• Also available at no charge to Texas high school students through life skills and other similar classes, and to universities and other educational institutions.
• TAAEF is working through the Texas Education Agency and directly with high schools to promote the program and increase its use across the state.
• Program content focuses on the information renters need to select, lease, and live responsibly in rental housing.
• TAA leases and other related forms are used in the program to prepare students for the use of these forms in the future.
• Developed and funded by the Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation.
